How It Works

Oxygen Displacement

"ArT" provides a non-toxic argon blanket between the wine and harmful oxygen.

Argon is heavier than air, and sinks down to push the oxygen away from the wine - preventing oxidation.

Flavor Lock-In

The protective ArT layer does not affect the acidity, tannins, or flavors of the wine. Argon (unlike carbon dioxide and oxygen) is a non-reactive heavy gas. It sinks down and rests on top of the wine, like a blanket, sealing in the aromas and flavor as it is stored.

Safe Protection

The Argon is analyzed for purity and certified for food use. Argon is GRAS by the FDA, tested as a safe preservation method. This noble gas is "lazy" and therefore non-reactive and non-toxic. More on safety

ArT's formula is harvested from the atmosphere (~1% Argon) and bottled. When pouring your next bottle the argon dissolves back into the atmosphere - completely recycling itself. All components of ArT can be recycled.

Saving Bottles of wine with ArT is easy

Explore Wine

1) Open a bottle of wine (or three) and pour yourself a few glasses.
2) When finished drinking for the day, break out ArT Wine Preservation

Save Wine

*Remove tamper tab on the top of the bottle (first time use only)
1) Insert ArT nozzle into mouth of the bottle.
2) Apply ArT by squeezing trigger for 1 to 2 seconds. Add another 1 second dose if larger than 750 mL bottle.
3) Re-cork the wine bottle. We recommend using the ArT re-usable cork.
4) Store upright in a cool dark place.
5) Re-apply ArT after each day of opening the wine bottle.

Best Results

For best results we recommend:
1) Applying ArT soon after pouring glasses to minimize oxygen exposure
2) Storing upright in a fridge or wine cooler

Why does reducing wine waste matter?

Every year $1.27 Billion of wine goes down the drain at home, plus 18M+ bottles at restaurants. More details on the extent of wine waste and why this occurs here.

We save our customers money so that they can enjoy wine, without the waste.

Is it Safe?

Of course! Argon is a lazy ("inert") molecule. ArT is non-toxic, non-flammable, and non-reactive. Argon is G.R.A.S. (Generally Regarded As Safe) by the FDA and has been used for decades in the wine industry (wineries use argon to protect large vats of high quality wine from oxidation prior to bottling). MORE ON SAFETY

For quality control, the Argon used in ArT is analyzed and certified for food use. We do want to remind you that although argon is also used in hospitals and can safely touch your food and beverage, this product is not to be used for life support; only medical grade oxygen can support respiration.

Is my can empty?

A full can feels empty, you will know the can is empty when the low hiss from the nozzle fades. This is because although argon is much denser than air, it is still much lighter than whipped cream and other aerosol products. To check its capacity, you can squeeze the canister. If it were empty you would be able to easily dent the canister. A full can has pressure on the inside.

Do I need to apply ArT after every pour?

For tasting rooms and restaurants looking for a few days of preservation, spraying the opened bottles at the end of the shift will do the trick. However, for best results and for bottles that need 7+ days of preservation we recommend: 1) Pouring the glass(es) of wine 2) Following the directions on the can within the first few minutes.

How many times can I re-apply ArT?

In testing and discussions with customers we found that re-opening a bottle does not significantly reduce the length of preservation. We have re-opened bottles to sample once per day for 7 days and had great performance.

I manage a restaurantwhat cost savings will I see?

Restaurants lose 11-15% of profit on wine by the glass sales - even with tight inventory control.
ArT can eliminate this loss, adding $1000s to the bottom line each year.

If you currently use vacuum stopper, you will see a decrease in labor costs by replacing a 4-6 second pumping action with ArT (1-2 sec spray).

Restaurant has 4 bottles costing $10 a piece left on the counter each night with an average of 2 large glasses poured out of each. One out of five times these leftover spoil (due to early week sales).

The restaurant is losing: 4 bottles open * $10 bottle cost * 50% leftovers * 1 out of 5 spoil * 30 days =
$120 loss per month or $1440 of wine losses per year that can be saved with $200 worth of ArTfor a net gain of $1240

I manage a restauranthow many do I need?

For sizing, take a typical number of open bottles left at the end of a shift, multiply by 30 days, divide by 130 and that is the number of ArT canisters you should purchase per month. Example: A restaurant typically has 4 open bottles on counter. Take (4 x 30 / 130) which rounds to 2 ArT canisters per month .

How long will my wine last?

Every wine spoils (oxidizes) at a different pace. ArT prevents this process for up to weeks. You can expect your wine to last at least three times as long when preserving with ArT compared to do nothing and most alternative products. We are confident in this product, and therefore offer a money back guarantee. If you are unhappy with the performance of ArT: please contact us (see below) and we will happily refund you.

How many uses per ArT canister?

Each canister holds up to 130 uses (130 x 1 second preservation sprays). In terms of bottles preserved, it depends on how many times you open a bottle. For example, if a bottle is opened 3 days in a row (needing 3 uses) a user will get up to 40 bottles out of one ArT canister.

Will it change the taste or structure of my wine?

No! Argon is large molecule that does not dissolve easily in wine like carbon dioxide (CO2) or oxygen. Other products have reportedly causes off taste due to "mixed" gases - we only use argon and analyze our source to ensure pure argon every time.

We would like to remind you that if you pour and spray a fresh bottle, you will have to let the wine "breath" the next time you open it.

Will it dissolve into my wine?

No! Argon is large molecule that does not dissolve easily in wine like carbon dioxide (CO2) or oxygen. Other products have reportedly causes off taste due to "mixed" gases - we only use argon and analyze our source to ensure pure argon every time.

Can I use ArT to preserve other foods/beverages?

Yes! Argon is safe to prevent oxidation of coffee beans, avocados, spices, and more! To preserve other food items, place said item in a container space such as tupper-ware or lock bags and spray ArT. For best results, use smallest container possible and partially close while spraying. While ArT will prevent items from oxidizing, carbonated beverages will not re-carbonated by the product.

Our Mission

We invite you to join us as we reduce waste with fully sustainable technologies. We do this by analyzing technology and business strategy from cradle to grave.

Our commitment to sustainability begins with ArT Wine Preservation, a product that reduces wine waste and is comprised of 100% recyclable parts and naturally recycled argon. We continue this commitment by evaluating the execution of our operations. This includes assessing and optimizing: carbon footprint, old technology substitution, and education of recycling methods to reduce wasteful practices (article to expand is in progress).

Our Journey

Ryan Frederickson - Strategy and Product Development

Ryan Frederickson - Strategy and Product Development

ArT Wine Preservation is a creation of R Fred Innovations LLC. Our mission is to reduce consumer waste, starting with open bottles of wine. Read about the $1.27 B that goes down the drain.

The ArT project was born in May of 2016, when the Founders found a need to reduce wine waste at home. At that time, the only options were expensive or didn't work. Luckily, the Team had an engineer with experience in the argon industry, allowing rapid testing and development of the final product. By December 2016 the Team launched ArT Wine Preservation meeting lofty time and budget goals.

We continuously strive to make ArT better through a consistent feedback loop. We are partnering with wineries, sommeliers, and retailers at this time. You may contact us below for information on how you can join the Team.
